MACS Power Strongman Open
JHEPC x N.E.S.P.P. Promotions | MACS Fundraiser
June 2027 | South Tyneside, North East England
The MACS Power Strongman Open is a large-scale open-class strongman competition bringing together Men’s Open and Women’s Open athletes for five events, a substantial cash prize pot and a full competition experience built around raising awareness and funds for MACS (Microphthalmia, Anophthalmia & Coloboma Support).
Following JHEPC’s previous MACS fundraising competitions, including the MACSimum Effort novice competition and Max Out for MACS deadlift competition, the MACS Power Strongman Open is the next step up, with limited places, open-level competition and a dedicated spectator venue.
Competition Format
The competition will feature:
Men’s Open
Women’s Open
20 places in each division
5 events
£60 entry
£7,000 advertised prize pot for podium finishers
£100 bonus for each event win
Cash prizes for the top three in each division
The events will follow the JHEPC approach of taking familiar strongman disciplines and giving them a different challenge, with the full event standards, weights and rules released closer to competition.
Events
Event 1 – Circus Barbell
A heavy overhead event using the Circus Barbell. Full loading and repetition/time format will be announced with the competition rules.
Event 2 – Deadlift for Reps
A deadlift-for-repetitions event designed to test maximal strength, grip and the ability to continue producing force under fatigue.
Event 3 – Conan’s Wheel
A loaded carry against the clock, testing bracing, leg strength and the ability to keep moving under a heavy load.
Event 4 – Farmers for Weight
A farmers event where athletes will be challenged to move progressively heavier loads. The full format and scoring system will be announced closer to the competition.
Event 5 – Atlas Stones – with a twist
A stone event with a variation on the traditional Atlas Stone format. The exact format, implements, loading heights and scoring will be announced in the full competition information.
Event weights and detailed rules will be confirmed closer to competition.
Prize Money
The MACS Power Strongman Open will feature a £7,000 advertised prize pot + event winners.
Men’s Open
1st – £1,800
2nd – £1,100
3rd – £600
Women’s Open
1st – £1,800
2nd – £1,100
3rd – £600
In addition to the overall podium prizes, athletes will receive £100 for every event win.
That means every event carries its own financial reward, giving competitors something to fight for throughout the day rather than only at the final leaderboard.
MACS Fundraising
The competition is organised to raise both funds and awareness for MACS, the UK charity supporting people and families affected by Microphthalmia, Anophthalmia and Coloboma.
These conditions affect the development of the eyes and can result in varying degrees of visual impairment. MACS provides information, practical support and community for affected individuals and their families.
The MACS Power Strongman Open follows JHEPC’s previous fundraising events and continues the aim of using strongman competitions to put these conditions in front of a much wider audience.
The competition is not a profit-making event. Event income is used to cover the costs of putting on the competition, with net proceeds donated to MACS. Fundraising and donation totals will be communicated following the event.
Venue
The competition will take place at a non-league football stadium in South Tyneside, North East England, providing a dedicated spectator environment for the competition.
The exact venue and confirmed competition date will be announced once final arrangements have been completed.
Entry
£60 per athlete
The competition is open to athletes competing in the Men’s Open or Women’s Open division.
There are 20 places available in each division, making this a deliberately limited field.
Full competition rules, event standards, schedule and equipment specifications will be provided to entrants ahead of the competition.
Organised by JHEPC / N.E.S.P.P. Promotions in support of MACS.
