Strongman: Beyond Barebones was originally written as a continuation of the Barebones Conjugate framework, expanding the structure into the off-season phase where athletes build the qualities that determine long-term progress.
This 1.1 edition presents the material largely as it originally appeared. While my writing and programming have continued to evolve over time, the central ideas remain the same. The off-season is where strength athletes develop the size, structural strength, and work capacity that underpin successful competition seasons.
Every penny raised from this edition is donated to MACS, a UK charity that supports people affected by microphthalmia, anophthalmia, and coloboma. These conditions affect the development of the eyes and vision and can present significant challenges throughout life. MACS provides information, support networks, and advocacy for individuals and families living with these conditions.
The programme itself focuses on building strongman athletes during the period where competition pressure is absent and development can take priority.

✔ Accessory work targeting grip, posterior chain strength, and upper back development
✔ Conditioning and general physical preparation suited to strongman athletes

While newer resources on the site explore these ideas in greater depth, the structure presented here remains a useful and practical approach to off-season training.
